Added this coin to my collection owing to its intriguing script. I've got no idea how to distinguish the obverse and the reverse sides.

we can argue by elimination:
Mughal empire: no
Ottoman Empire: No

Must be a fantasy, the only coins this one resembles is Ceylonese copper and your coin looks machine struck, which was not available at the time. Probably made in the 70s-90s.

if that helps: the script is not Arabic, not Farsi (Persian)
as for religion surely non-Muslim

It is not the script at all, it is an imitation of a script ... and imitation of a coin.
