I have to say I love this series and would go as far as to say it's the best we made for a colony. At least in base metal anyway ! It features two great but un-cluttered designs. I'm always looking to upgrade what I have, however certain denominations seldom appear at all never mind at a decent price !
Yes Mark240590 that is a very beauliful coin.I have never seen it ,thank you for putting it up. But the large penny with a queen or king has to be my fav. And Britanna is the best. I love Britanna. But getting back to topkic. Only a few British colonies made a large penny. For any lenght of time. Jamaica did, smaller but very nice. They put out there last large penny and 1/2 penny in 1969.The penny Km42 100th anniversary of Jamaican coinage. It was one of the last large pennys made with Queen Elizabeth on it.I think the last one was the UK issue of 1970.What can i say iam a penny freak. The penny was one of the only coins everyone used.No matter how much money you had.So to me the penny is a true coin for everyone. Just look at the history with the UKs penny. Its been around for how long. I like the large east africa penny to.But i would say i like this one.
To me it shows alot of history.

So here it is:
Cracking coin. What's the beast? It's not a Griffin is it because it doesn't have an eagle's head?
Цитата: redsmithstudiosPhil I would guess the Ionian Islands, but only because you just gave it away. By the way, how many Nations have?
The Romans were the first. Apart from that I can only think of those countries which used the Edwardian British Trade Dollars, Hibernia (although the shield is replaced by a harp) plus the US Vermont coins. I'm sure there are more especially if you count bank tokens but that's all I can think of.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
Indeed, it is the lion of St.Mark.
There are remains of a Venetian castle on a hill in Zakinthos much of which was destroyed by an earthquake in the 50's if I remember correctly !
Its one of the attractions I regret missing but we didn't really have enough time :(
