1826 drachma?

6 сообщений
My friend told me that he has silver drachma coin dated 1826, unfortunately pierced, probably to be borne on some kind of necklace.
I was trying to find it in the catalogue, but it wasn't there.
My presumption is that maybe he was wrong about date of the coin.
He asked me if I can find more info about this coin. He is not a collector, but received this coin as a gift long time ago (as a child) in Greece. It is very precious memory to him and he don't want to sell it nor trade (you are guessing - I've asked him already  :D ) but only wants to know a common question: Is it valuable?  :~
I told him that does not necessarily mean if coin is old, that it must be very valuable.
And he had intention to wash his coin, because it has picked some dirt. Luckily, I stopped him in the right time.  8)
I still don't have the photo of this coin, but as soon I receive this photo, it will be uploaded here.
In the meanwhile, can someone tell me more about this coin?

Perhaps 1828?

Do you have any pictures of it?
No, not yet.

I will post them as soon I receive them.
The problem is that I don't see this friend too much often.
First time he mentioned that he have old coin from Greece, before two months.
I asked him to check what was this coin. So, he checked it and told me yesterday.
My guess is that he will made me photos aboouuut, let's say June  :D

I will upload a photo as soon he (remember to) made one.

Thanks, neilithic  :)

maybe 1926...
World coins by date and mint place, 1850-2000
Yes, maybe...

But, he told me that this was "real old coin", so I'm thinking - maybe 1836?
Or it was not drachma, but some other coin from 1826.
I will find it out when I get the photos.. :)

This is solved:

It is silver drachma, not from 1826 but from 1832. This is a very nice coin, and pretty valuable according to this link: http://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/greece-drachma-km-15-1832-1847-cuid-19892-duid-62315

I must say that I wasn't expecting this, but some common coin. Unfortunately, it is pierced.
