i was recently given a tin full of coins, but two of which are unreconisable (as in, in very bad condition)
where would i go to have them reconised?
i can see patches of them and they look like this: coin #1 leaves in shape of loarel going up the sides. silver-ey colour. something like a crown at the top. and a hole in the middle. on the other side of this coin is writing around the side; ---tia ( top of coin) --tt. regina-f:d:--------(bottom of coin)vic---------------and back to th start.( i thought it might be a british coin from the reign of victoria.) again something like the english crown on top.
coin #2 brass-ey colour. very black when not brass-ey, presumebly just dirty. box with x on it i think.....unreconiseable scribbles hovering around the box. tip of a crown at the top? writing around the side; --in (top of coin) miciwii--(bottem of coin) n of -------------- and back to the start. other side; horse? dragon? person with webbed tail? i dont know.writing around the side;from top;y-n(dunno about the n though)-----------------(near bottem)h:---haieypax--( possibly ic) and back to start. note that i dont know whats the top or the bottem of the second coin. first coin is medal allignment; i can see the crowns easly enough. heres a picture of both:
sorry, cant paste the pictures. hope the descriptions enough,
Despite your valiant effort at describing something we can't see, you would really need to upload the pictures for anyone to positively id your coins. Also, any other data such as diameter, weight, metal, etc. is always helpful.
Best regards and happy collecting,
Rick
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.
oh, yeah. coin #1 is 16mm in diameter and the second one is.....19 mm diameter. ill se if i can find a delecet weighing scales. (pardon my spelling of delecet)
