India-Portuguese 1918 GOA 1/8 Rupia, Oitavo

Hello,

NGC shows image of reverse to be

yet I came across image of coin claiming to be KM#309 that has different reverse:

Can anyone explain why there is a difference?

Thank you...   Dan
I only know French language, and Huit is 8 and Quatre is 4, so maybe similar in Portuguese; then ...
I guess Oitavo means 1/8
and so Quarto means 1/4

So they are different coins - if NGC show the Oitavo as 1/8 then that is correct (if I am).  :)

P.S. Apart from that, this page below says the 1/8 is only 1881 so not sure where 1918 comes in.

The 1/4 below is KM# 310 and only 1881 or rarely 1885 - so also not 1918 year.

So the second image you show is most likely 1881 date and 1/4 Rupia and KM# 310.  :)

Thank you,

The '1918' was a typo, meant to be 1881. Your explanation is correct. The coin listed with the 'Quarto' on reverse was pulled from auction as having been listed incorrectly.

Again Thank you...     Dan

Dan is correct and so is our catalogue.

In Portuguese, Oitavo is 1/8 and Quarto is 1/4.  Zac is absolutely right.
