I rather think it is Korea or Japan, but I can be wrong....

The identification of this coin is bugging me all day from the morning. I've looked through many coins, first I thought it was chinese, but couldn't find some characters. Then I thought of Korea. Right and left characters mean tang bo (通 寶) which can be roughly translated to heavy currency. Top and bottom characters probably show value, well they should show value, top character look pretty much like ministry of defence mintmark (兵) but the mintmark should be on reverse, and sadly bottom character I can't find. The other side of the coin shows two characters top looks like gap 甲 one of the ten celestial stemes, which are combined with 12 terrestrial branches, when you pair them in series of coins. One of the terrestrial branches looks a lot like bottom character - it's cha 子. But I'm not sure are those supposed to be on reverse or obverse? Again I'm no expert, and all this could be just gibberish :°

It could be Vietnamese?

I just checked. It's not Vietnamese. Doesn't match any of the Emperors.

The inscription on the obverse reads 贞享通宝.

The inscription on the reverse is 甲子.

According to the following Chinese websites, it is a Japanese charm:
www.chcoin.com
paimai.artxun.com
www.shuoqian.net

This Chinese website explains that the charm was cast during the first year (1684) of the Jokyo era of Japanese Emperor Reijen.

There are two versions of the charm: silver and copper (bronze).

The charms have a diameter of 2.6 cm and weigh 3.125 grams.

I do not collect Japanese charms and am unable to determine the authenticity of this charm.
