Strange South Africa 10 Cents 2003 with coin orientation 90*

I Wonder if it's a strike error or a variety ?
All other SA coins are medal oriented, even another 10C 2003 that I've got

Rotation error.

I imagine the two faces are struck together at the same time. In that case the die setting of the press should be wrong and so a certain amount of money with the wrong alignment could have been produced ?
