Chinese Fatman Silver Coin

7 сообщений
Hello,
I was hoping someone would be able to help find out some information on this coin. Is it real or counterfeit? What kind of condition is this coin in? Should I clean it or leave it as is? What would be a reasonable asking price if I were to sell it? I know that it is a silver Chinese Fatman coin. I believe it was minted in 1914, the first year that this coin was minted, due to the fact that the face of the coin has only 6 characters across the top and that the second one resembles 3 horizontal bars. If this is wrong please let me know. I have no idea what the two markings on the mans head are, nor do I know what the small characters to the right of the man are, so it would be GREATLY appreciated if anyone could tell me. Any information that anyone could provide would be helpful so please don't hold back.

EDIT: I am not a coin collector or anything of the sort. I was given this coin as a gift and am just looking for information about it.

you are right, year 3 (1914), its a chopmarked coin, use google and look for "chopmarks"
@eazy.dog Do the chopmarks affect the value in any way? And do you have any idea what I could sell this for?
i have no idea, but i think maybe you can get a few bucks more wit chopmarks
Chopmarks usually reduce the value, since they were common and damage the coin

at least, it is a real one.
The chopmarks were made by bankers who accepted the coin as genuine for payment.
It is not easy to find out wich bankers/tradesmen made these marks

There are people that collect chop marked coins, so you might actually get more for it.
