Before some time i bought one coin in Afghanistan. For one year I am trying to identify it but it is not possible. The interesting thing it is that in the middle of the coin there is a star of David (see bellow), in that region has never been issued coins with star of David (as far as i know).
After lot's of research i achieved to find some similar coins from nearby, but not the exact coin.
I would be really happy if you can help me to identify this mysterious coin.
Or it could be from the Indian kingdoms. I found one with a similar design on one side of the coin. I know it's not the coin, but it gives you somewhere to start looking
Yes i thought of that too. That's of the Indian Kingdom Travancore, the one i linked above, but this Kingdom has been placed in far south of India.
I thought also it can be from Morocco, i searched for similar Moroccan coin but i didn't find anything. I looked for Judean coins, same result again :(
I really wonder where this coin was minted and in which period.
This is not a certainty but I have seen similar types in the past and they tend to fall into the ISLAMIC category.
If you do a search for -
ABBASID
MAMLUK
UMMAYAD
They used both the 5 & 6 pointed star on their coins from what I remember but it has been a while since I last came across 1.
Hope this helps.
I deny nothing but doubt everything, opinions are made to be changed, how else is the truth to be gotten at.
thanks for the recommendations, i check those caliphates too but unfortunately i didn't find it. But i am not going to give up now it makes me more curious to know the history behind this coin
