Thanks for the reply.
There is no double strike that I can see, the plastic protection over the coin seems to be distorting the image slightly, I see what you mean about the A looking odd, that is down to a blurry part of the image, the A looks quite sharp to me, the first image you see "shine", but there is no shine at all on the coin. The coin under a 40x loupe shows no scratches at all, only the tiniest fraction of wear on the rim,1-2mm in diameter and extremely light, it can only be seen under a loupe, so I graded it
almost uncirculated due to only being able to see that one tiny mark
But I am no expert and the people here will outshine me in every way on the subject, especially grading coins, I can only hazard a guess at grading due to researching constantly online every day, with many "how to grade coins" articles. I would take anyone's advice here over my own, you are far more experienced than I am.
Maybe I should learn how to scan my coins so the image is clearer in the future.
Sadly I saw another 1854 coin for sale on ebay with an almost identical die break error on the 4, so it isnt unique and I would hazard a guess that there are many many more the same out there, especially as the one on ebay was very cheap but it did not sell when its auction time ran out. So that answers the question if it is more valuable.
Thank you again for taking the time to respond.
