just picked up this coin but cant find a mintmark "H/KN" on it? even through a microscope?
mintmark suppose to be below hole (if present) but not listed on Numista without?
Identification please  :)

Thanks! could be but will have to have a closer look again. most of the surface has dents and scratches. Very difficult to see. Is "H" suppose to "stand out" or engraved?

ZacUK was correct. It's Heaton mint, but "H" is almost worn off.
I collect coins and tokens which circulated in Africa from 18th century to 2000. I sell about 7000 illustrated world coins from http://www.avscoins.com.
I also agree with Zac.

I have enhanced your image and layered the numista image on top with enough transparency to see exactly where the mint mark should be.

you can just about make out the H mint mark when I enhance the images by reversing the colour tones on your original image, which allows for finer detail.

I have circled it here, just like Zac's example.






I would be able to enhance the images much better if I had higher resolution images to work with.
