i have this coin cant identify country or year does anyone have any expertise in old coins

I'm pretty sure it's Roma, I've seen something much alike that in a store and it had that tree (palm tree ?).
Si tu cognes ta tête contre une cruche et que ça sonne creux, ce n'est pas forcément la cruche... lollll mon proverbe préféré !
Judaea, Marcus Ambibulus
Roman Prefect under Augustus, 9 - 12 A.D

OBV: KAICAPOC (of Caesar), head of barley curved right
REV: palm tree with two bunches of dates.

Do you have better pictures? Perhaps a scan?
Looks like it could be a fake.

How can you be so sure from a photograph? I'm not disbelieving you, just curious as to your analysis which led you to that conclusion.

Matt
i think he could tell by its perfect roundness and silvery color most the others i just found are bronze and and have wavyier edges more like a round rock

Hey Matt,

I obviously can never be 100% without holding it myself, but I have had the pleasure of holding a few of these authentically.  I was not sure with the first set of pictures (only suspicious) but the second set had me looking.

The material was the first red flag. As 0grams states it is strangely round. I have never seen one this round. from what is shown there is practically no waring to it. It looks cast, not struck.  If you have look at the link below you can see a large list of authentic s  to compare:
http://www.acsearch.info/

Also when compared to a variation of a know fake there is a striking resemblance.

Again I can not be 100% from a photo, but it is safe to say that this coin does not look right, and I sure wouldn't buy it if I saw it for sale as genuine.

Simply my opinion to 0grams is that this coin is suspicious, and I would consider it a fake.

Thanks Matt.
Cheers!!

Again, I don't disbelieve you! And now you explain what to look for I can see the logic in your conclusion. I wondered how one might start to be suspicious about ancient coins, which I never buy because I wouldn't know a fake from a real one.

Thanks for the tips.

Matt
Hey Matt,

I didn't mean to sound anal, if that is how my post came across I am sorry.
I guess I need to use more smilies  ;)  ;)  ;)

Before ever buying an ancient, your best bet is to buy from reputable dealers (Ebay is dangerous)
I usually insist a buyer compares the price, obviously the prices will vary on quality but if you see a gem at half the price, its probably a reproduction or fake. (If its too good to be true... 8. )
Look for the variations of the coin you are looking at, if yours looks nothing like the ones out there, it might be a fake. Not to be confused with ancient forgeries or imitations, but thats another topic.

You can spot fakes more after you have received a few.  Here is one I got in a lot last month.

Your best safety net is research.
And never be afraid to get a second opinion from ancient coin forums.
We are all here to help each other out right.

Cheers!!
