I have these two Afghan Rupees that I believe have identified to the types but I can't figure out the dates on these coins, haha.

The first one I believe is this coin: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces61778.html

And the second is this coin I believe: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces48743.html

Thanks for any help you can give; new to the forums!   :D
The first one isn't identified correctly. I think it's 1 rupee AH1297-1308 KM# 544 but I'm not able to read the date. Ruler is Abdur Rahman (AH1297 - 1319/AD1880 - 1901).
KM# 544 is not listed in the Numista catalog yet.

The second one is 1 rupee 1270 (1854) (your picture was upside down):

Download the following free book and it should help you decipher the coin:

Whitehead, R. B., Catalogue of Coins in the Panjab Museum, Volume III - Coins of Nadir Shah and the Durrani Dynasty, The Panjab Government, 1934

It is available at http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/upload/quantgeek/catalogueofcoins03lahouoft.pdf
Your book covers the period 1738 till 1842. His two coins are younger (one from 1854, the other between 1880 - 1901).
Your book is Volume III, does there exist a Volume IV with younger coins?
Here is where the date of the first coin should be (red circle):

It seems as if your coins are just partial coins (or fakes?).
This is how they should be:
1 rupee Km# 544.1 Kabul Mint

And this is your first coin. Look at your obverse and then at this one:

It's a pity there are no weights in the Krause for these coins, otherwise you would have immediately known if you miss a part.

There is a weight for the  KM# 497.1 (9.4 gr), but I don't know if the KM# 497.2 should have the same weight. I don't even know why they have numbered them 497.1 and 497.2 because the second one has a totally different reverse:

It seemed to be a Durrani coin, but apparently it is not.  Unfortunately, there is no Volume IV (as far as I know) and hence the coverage ends with the Durrani Dynasty.  I don't collect Afghan coins after the Durrani empire and hence I don't have any good references other than Krause...
They are not fakes, but a lot of coins were minted with a die that also was used for bigger coins.
It is not rare that a lot is off-flan

Quant.geek: thanks for the link, I did not have that book. Do you have other links?

The weight for the Dost Muhammad Rupee is approx. 9.0g
And for the other it is 8.8g
Hmmm hopefully they are real, possibly just partial coins?

Well thanks a lot guys, this helps a lot to add them into my collection here on Numista.
It's a shame that the date seems to be cut off on the Abdur Rahman rupee, but thanks a lot for the ID on the Dost Muhammad Ruppee. You've helped a lot!   :D
Oh thank you Petrus, that's very interesting and makes a lot of sense as to the slight variation in the weight and appearance.

Have way too many books, especially free ones that I downloaded.  I uploaded some at the WorldofCoins Bookshelf at  http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/upload/quantgeek.

What are your interests?  I downloaded A LOT of good books from the Digital Library of India as well as Archive.org/Google.com...
Thanks for the link, very usefull.
Perhaps I should do the same with the free files I have
I have some mediëval coins and a small collection eastern coins.
