Indian old coin? (princely state?)

8 сообщений
Hi,

I bought a coin but I don't know the country, value, year, nothing! I was looking for similar pictures in the internet but I did not find any coin with similar drawings, only similar in general (indian old coins).
Can someone please help me to identify it? The marks in the paper are spaced in 1cm. So, the photos have 5x5cm.

Thanks in advance.
Daniel
Date looks like AH1180 = 1766AD (last digit not complete readable)
Date is on the first picture, right side, just below top line

Thanks for the prompt replies!

So it is indian princely state of Arcot, value is 1 paisa and year AH1189 = 1775AD. I will try to find it in the catalog for a cross check, but at the moment I don't have one for before 1900. Does anyone know any website where I can see a similar coin with descriptions?

So this should be the coin:

Sujit, I know you are an unbelievable expert in Indian coins, so I have no doubt you are correct. I can't read any text, only numbers, so I can only make a visual comparison. I don't see much resemblance but those hammered coins are often off flan and then a visual comparison is difficult.
Sujit, I knew you were right, as always, so I kept looking. And after turning the reverse picture a bit to the right and a bit of copying and pasting I saw the resemblance: the common part on the reverse:
