Hello to all, I could use some help with this coin or medal.
It is a large coin 60 mm across, weighs 170 grams and I think it is 90% silver. Hallmark shows in the middle the lotus flower and at the end an Arabic letter. The first hallmark is I think a 9 and a diamond shaped figure. 90% ?.
Coin or medal comes from Egypt.
I've no idea what it might be but I'm very curious to know what the script says once one of our linguistic types notices this topic. The building may be a representation of the Cairo Museum which does have a dome and recessed figures although the layout of the doors and windows is all wrong.
I think it's magnificent.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.

good day to all, at Chaponnière & Firmenich SA auctions, there was a similar coin and looked exactly like mine, but a lot smaller ( lot nr 308 ) Silver Medal ND (1953-1971). General assembly, Egyptian government. Obv. The Parliament building in Cairo. Rev. View of the pyramids. AR 354.12 g. UNC. Please zoom in and have a look at the hallmark. I too spend hours on the net trying to find info on this coin, nothing turned up except the above information. I think the hallmark reads 9o% , lotus flower . and the Arabic letter U with dot. 1981 ???
Thanks, it looks like the hallmark letter is from September 1982.
But any further research on this coin seems futile. Nothing to compare it with.
Posting one last picture to show how big this coin is.
