Hi all !
A lot of topics are about coin grading, so I thought it might be an idea to add pictures of the different grades. This doesn't have to be as detailed as the photograding for US coins like http://www.pcgs.com/photograde/#/Walker/Grades , but if we could find an agreement for F, VF, XF, UNC that would be already a big step.
How to do : members put in pictures with a grade, and 5 (or 10 ...)members agree with that grade, the picture is added to the coin page;
I know it will be a lot of work, but maybe we can start with some common coins ?
I just graded my Russian coins. Because I'm collecting all types and all years, I usually have many coins from one type. That makes it a bit easier to make some rules for grading. Rules like if a coin has certain elements visible it belongs to a certain grade. I'm pretty sure you all have that kind of "rules" to grade coins. Would it be possible to add a rule table on coin page, photos are of course a bonus. I'm sure we will find many rules for one grade, but I would like to limit the amount of rules, 3-4 rules for one grade is maximum, I think.
That would help many of us, non professional numismatic people, grading our own collection and giving more accurate grade for our doubles. Every country has a referee. Could that person make the decision which rules are the most relevant ones?
Maybe we can start a trial version in the numisdoc part of the forum ?
Next weekend I'll try to make a selection of coins in different grades, and post pictures.
