I bought the 1992 alderney £2 coin KM 3 in a postage stamp cover the numista catalogue has no mintage listed so I referred to my coin  catalogue to find the mintage and add it to numista there is no mintage figures in listed in my book. When I googled it any where it was mentioned it was said to be rare but no one mentions mintage. Does anyone know the mintage figures for this coin?
Thanks for any help.

Uhh... okay?

It's probably around some 50,000 or less if its rare. All Alderney coinage is rare.

No mintage figures that I could find...however I don't think this coin is that rare. It has a value of £6 in an UNC condition.

Have you ever seen an Aldernay coin? I haven't. A man I know lives on Aldernay, comes over to the mainland from time to time. He says they use Guernsey and UK coins.

Matt
Admittedly, I haven't seen an Alderney coin before. Apart from in books! I'm still reluctant to use the term 'rare'. Aldernians probably have all their coins at home and can use them but save them for Numismatics to wet themselves over!

I don't know about your £2 coin, but Alderney coins are spewed out on a regular basis by our friends at the Royal Mint (see link above)

These are our old friends the "collectors issues" rather than circulation coins, no? Or did I miss something in the Royal Mint's excellent (sic) search results?

Matt
Just to clear it up with you Brits,

Surprised to hear you say these things, from a guy across the Atlantic and the states! Alderney has never issued a circulating coin. Their coins are commemorative, rare, and produced in the Royal Mint, which is not even Alderney. I'm sure the people of Alderney don't realize that commemorative coins are made for the tiny isle.

Thanks for all that it's a shame somewhere does not keep mintage figures but at the end of the day it is a nice command that was the reason i bought it.
