value of UK coins

Hello all,
I have come across a coin set from 1963. I don't know if its a mint issue or not. it is just coins in a soft plastic  sleave. they are uncirculated coins from 1/2 penny up to 1/2 crown. Can someone give me a guess of value and if its mint issued?

I'm also looking at a 1951 prooflike copper-nickel Crown in the plastic box. Can someone give me a current value that these sell for?

Hi Tom,

The year sets are worth around $10-$15 and from your description they are not mint issued. I have the 1965 version, it's in a carboard holder which slides into an outer plastic sleeve and has the words "Coinage of Great Britain". That sound like it?

The other coin is a Festival of Britain crown which sells stateside for between $20 to $35, depending on grade and original box. They are cheaper to buy in the UK even taking into account shipping. Look at these two pretties I bought this morning :-

Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

No. the year set is just a plastic page with individual pockets for each coin.

The crown is in one of the black box with the clear cover. The box is a little scratched up, but the coin is  BU

The sellers description made me chuckle, Phil - "one looks like it's gold-plated, the other looks like silver". Who does he think he's trying to kid! You got yourself a good deal, though. It's funny, the values for these FoB crowns in Krause are way off - my 2009 DVD says $22.50 for the standard prooflike in UNC but when you look on Tony Clayton's site, which tends to be more realistic and is updated regularly, he gives only £6, or about $9.50.

The year sets are quite common, were produced in massive quantities and are worth whatever you can get for them (have a look at completed listings on eBay to get an idea)
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.
