1833 German States 6 Kreuzer grading

6 сообщений
Hello.

I got this little silver coin from German States and i would appreciate some help with grading and possible valuation.
Here are the pictures:

Oh, does anyone knows how to remove this ugly yellow stuff without causing any demage to the coin?

Also, there are two different km# for this coin, km#290 and km#297. The difference i noticed in between them is that the 6 looks bold and she shield seems shorter on km#297. Are there any other differences? Mine looks like km#290 but i didn't find record in catalogs about km#290 being minted in 1833, even though Numista says otherwise.

Sorry for all the question and thank you all for the help.
Paulo.
I would say VF35.

I find that if you soak a coin in pure acetone for an hour or two you can get all the glue/tape residue off without affecting the color. Sometimes the color is different underneath the glue, but it isn't from the acetone.

Nice coin!

Chris
Thanks, Chris!
I will surely try this tomorrow.
I agree its a decent VF.
For the yellow stain I think the coin had been harschly cleaned and the yellow spot is just the copper appearing due to the coins low silver content, I don`t think this can be removed.

Thanks for the reply, Apuking.
About the yellow stain, before posting, I used a wooden toothpick to see if it was high or low relief and, if possible, try remove it. I can say for sure it is old adhesive tape.
