Hello Ivan,

here are my thoughts on your IDs:

1.
  • Obverse: I'd rather go for a Constans obverse with lettering D N CONSTAN-S P F AVG - Bust of Constans, right, laurel and rosette-diademed, draped, cuirassed.
  • Reverse: GLOR-IA EXERC-ITVS - Two helmeted soldiers, standing facing each other, each holding spear with outer hand while leaning on shield with inner hand, one labarum between them.
  • Mint: Siscia is good but it seems to me it's BSIS (2nd officina) instead of εSIS (5th officina).
  • Reference: Assuming nothing before or after the mintmark (no pellet or no star), I'd go for RIC VIII 88.
  • See here on Numista.

2. Looks right to me. Not on Numista.

3.
  • Obverse: D N VALEN-S P F AVG - Bust of Valens, right, pearl-diademed, draped, cuirassed.
  • Reverse: GLORIA RO-MANORVM - Emperor advancing right, holding labarum with left hand, dragging captive by hair behind him with right hand.
  • Mint: SMAQ for Aquileia (can't assign officina as this part of coin is chipped).
  • Reference: Can be a subtype pf RIC IX 7b or RIC IX 11b (depending on potential marks before and/or after mintmark like a star or a pellet).
  • See here on Numista for RIC#7b.

4.
  • Obverse: D N IVLIA-NVS NOB C - Bust of Julian II, right, bare-headed, draped, cuirassed.
  • Reverse: SPES REI-PVBLICE - Helmeted emperor in military attire, standing left, holding spear with left hand and globe in right hand turned upwards.
  • Mint: Mintmark is chipped but the mark (barred S) in left field on reverse allows to place it with Sirmium mint; mintmark would then be either ASIRM or BSIRM.
  • Reference: RIC# VIII 87.
  • Not on Numista.

5.
  • Obverse: IMP CLAVDIVS AVG - Bust of Claudius II, right, radiate, cuirassed.
  • Reverse: LIBERT AVG - Libertas standing left, draped, holding pileus with right hand and sceptre with left hand.
  • Mint: Rome (no mark in exergue).
  • Reference: RIC V Part I 63 var - the variant is due to RIC giving cornucopiae instead of sceptre.
  • See here on Numista.
Sapientiae plerumque stultitia est comes.
Si c'est un grand plaisir d'être reconnu par ses amis, c'est peut-être encore plus flatteur d'être reconnu par ses adversaires.
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.
Thank you pejounet
