Hello,
I need some hepl with this coin:
Diameter: 17
Weight: 3.5

Thanks for your help!
the closest I could find was on this site- http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/theodosius_I/t.html

sixth row down, the difference I notice though, is that the image of Constantinopolis' head wear. Your coin appears to be more helmet-like where as the image provided on the site is described as turreted and looks like 3 dots.

Best of luck!

I totally agree with you. The helm differs but the rest seems to be right.
Thanks for your help
Hi,

First, thanks alamir for pointing me out this post. :)

MSanford, your coin is similar but not exactly this one as yours seems to be made of bronze and comes from a different mint. Here is the info for yours:
  • Obverse: D N THEODOSIVS P F AVG - Bust of Theodosius 1st, right, rosette-diademed, draped, cuirassed.
  • Reverse: CONCORDIA AVGGG - Constantinopolis helmeted, seated facing on throne, head right, holding spear in right hand and globe in left hand upwards, draped but right leg bare, right feet on prow.
  • Mint: ANT∆ with Θ in left field and Φ over K in right field - Antioch mint, 4th officina.
  • Struck around 378-383
  • Reference: RIC#47d

You may have a look at similar coins here (in french); the first one being your coin. And here is also your coin (in english).

Your coin is not listed on Numista yet so you could try creating a file :D
Sapientiae plerumque stultitia est comes.
Si c'est un grand plaisir d'être reconnu par ses amis, c'est peut-être encore plus flatteur d'être reconnu par ses adversaires.
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.
