Hello fellow Numista users, I've decided to post for help identifying a coin for the first time. I have acquired a coin since last april when I visited the country of Sudan, specifically the cites of Khartoum and Omdurman. While I was there, and since I had some Sudanese money to spend, I started hunting for silver in the markets. Before long I had bought beautiful coins worth hundreds of euros for a few Pounds, now, relating to this topic; One of the coins I brought back was this strange silver coin, I believe it is turkish but I am not a hundred percent sure. I translated the date to 1293 (yes that is around the 19th century) and would like your gentle help in giving me some information about this coin. I thank you for your time.

The coin is from Egypt. KM# 299 1 Qirsh. Your coin was minted in 1903.

It's not that coin. The first picture of the request has two crossed arrow quivers at the bottom.
  I think >  Egypt   10 Qirsh   Year 29 (maybe 1905 as in 1876+29)   KM# 295 (1884-1907)

First image has  ١٠   below design so it is 10 value. There is a W at the bottom.
Second image has  ٢٩  under the three stars so is Year 29 and  ١٢٩٣  is 1293 (1876) date.

Maybe (though there are ten years on the page, none of which show year 29 - but on the right the Western dates are all over the place - as the system just sorts by the left-hand column, I think) ...

The link given by ken6528 has dates that are in order, as the Western date is on the left, alongside 1293. Also it says Year 29 is 1903 equivalent, which fits with KM# 295 being 1884-1907 dates.
So assuming all above is correct, it just needs 1903 adding to the page. Would be handy if the dates were in order also.   8.

      In summary then;    Egypt    10 Qirsh    1903    Silver    KM# 295   (hopefully)   :)

hi an welcome to numista, how much did you say you payed for that coin???
james
I payed around 5 sudaneese pounds if I remember correctly, Basically about 1.80 $, what shows profit is the fact that just the silver value of this coin is over 8$. I would never sell it since its beautiful, and thank you for finding information about the coin, If you are interested in other coins I brought back, I look forward to trading with you.

I could not see any difference between other coins from Egypt. The km# 292,293,294,295 look the same. If you could get weight or the size I could tell for sure.

I would certainly be interested if you have spare Sudanese coinage that you were looking to trade. Have a look at my exchange list and send me a PM if you are interested in a swap. Regards, Rick

The difference is the Arabic numerals on the obverse, giving the denomination. I have put together a composite picture of all four. Hope it comes out alright ...

In case it didn't appear clearly on there, they are ...
KM# 292 is a  1 Qirsh and has an Arabic  ١  below the design.
KM# 293 is a  2 Qirsh and has an Arabic  ٢  below the design.
KM# 294 is a  5 Qirsh and has an Arabic  ٥  below the design.
KM# 295 is a 10 Qirsh and has an Arabic  ١٠  below the design.

I see the difference now. The pictures I had of the coins were blurred and I couldn't that detail.
It is past almost 3 years but nobody have added on catalog years missing: 1293/27 to 1293/33
I get on my doubles 1293/29 and 1293/30 and i dont know how i can add them to my swap list.
