the 1972 date is certainly smaller. I'll have a look through all of mine on Monday, since I have all the years in the km246. I'll come back with my findings!
without any doubt, the 1972 has a smaller date than the 1975. For me that's not a variant, just an omission of KM to give the 1975 another sub number. Monday I'll try to remember to look at my series of km246 coins, I have them all! I'll be back.
I have just found out, that I don't have the 1979 in my collection, so I made the comparaison from 1971 to 1978 and found the following
Geraltttt82, if you want to make the change request you're welcome to use the above documentation. I have some doubts about the quantity of beads on the 1974 coin (there are 9 under the date and all the other coins have only 8), but I'll count them some other time!! It might result in another variant....

Regarding the 1973/1 and it's variants, I think it is indeed a 1 with a little bottom serif, and in some specimens there is a die break that gives the impression that the serif is bigger. It's a mystery for sure, just my thoughts. I too thought it was some kind of micro-2 popping through. But no. They abraded all other traces of the 1 away.
