Hello,

Well, the interesting thing about it is everything I find associated with ABV is either beer producing or some alcohol-related topics. After about 15 minutes of searching I found something at least close to what you have but has D infront A.B.V, and it's this:

http://tokencatalog.com/token_record_forms.php?action=DisplayTokenRecord&td_id=238124&inventory_id=384956&td_image_id=222744&attribution_id=242547&record_offset=0

This seems to be a some kind of a gaming token? probably something similar to a cruise token or medal for tourist purposes? Probably, but there is no other explanation of the abbreviation A.B.V. except some speculations that this is "Alcohol by volume" and such. These speculations I found here:

But I found similar items of the Military Tokens of the United States, Overseas Issues

As a conclusion - You either have a tourist token from a cruise or a nice war USA medal. I think the latter is correct.
P.S. Keep in mind that probably there are a lot of variations of these war medals.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Stefan

Hello SStefanov, thanks for your help on this and taking the time to do some search on it.

Got it from an auction house lot, I asked them and they are not sure.
They could only tell me that it is probably German and they think it dates somewhere between 1895 and 1917. Still seems that also they didn't know.

Yes, don't mention it, it's my pleasure to help!

Sometimes it's very hard to find such stuff, keep it safe and cherish it, it may come in handy as an investment down the road :)) Collectors spend fortunes on these things.

I suggest finding good token/medal online catalogs and search manually when you have the time. You may find similar ones or derivatives and there you could also find prices.

Cheers,

Stefan

OB might be on board.
ABV should be the ship name, or maybe something to the HMS in English.

SRL
Armed Boarding Vessel ?
The OB should indeed be the name of the steamer
I found two of them:
HMT Ocean Breeze, requisitioned September 1939, Minesweeper, returned 1944.
