The crown is strange because there were no more kings in France after Napoleon III. So i guess it's some private counterstamp. Maybe ask on the french forum if someone is not able to answer you here.
I just checked in Brunk's monumental catalogue. It is not in there, but this is not surprising given that dozens of new countermarks are discovered every year. I just published one in the Canadian Numismatic Journal.
Now, it is not impossible that Brunk knew about your countermark, but did't publish it in his book since it is about, as the title says, Merchant and Privately Countermarked Coins (2003). However, he would have known that this is unlikely to be an official countermark, and crowns are often used in private countermarks as well.
If you are able to do a better photo, that would possibly help. As it is, I can guess there is a crown more than I can see it.
If you have a chance, try taking a picture through a magnifier with optimal use of light.
To add to what I said before, you wouldn't expect an official countermark to be irregular in shape, and by this, I mean the outer shape of the punch. Also, you would not expect an official punch to be partly lost on the edge of the coin like this. So, it is most probably a private mark.
Цитата: "Chech"I don't have any books on counterstamps so what would it be worth?
I am a collector of countermarked coins relating to Canada, especially the colonial period. Prices vary widely, and dealers very often don't know what they are worth so there are huge price ranges. Some are ridiculously high ─ sometimes 5 to 10 times what I'm willing to pay. Recently I acquired a Canadian 1881 50¢ with a very neat countermark, DUQUETTE. The eBay seller started at $200, so I played the "let's wait and see" game until it was relisted several times, and eventually at $66, when I jumped in and got it.
General rules:
► Countermarks with an identified "issuer" are usually worth much more than unidentified or unidentifiable ones (numbers, single letters, common names such as JONES, etc.).
► Known vs. unknown country of origin also (most are unknown).
► At a comparable degree of rarity, official countermarks should be worth much more than private ones (most of the latter are known from less than 10 specimens, often only one).
► A complete and better preserved c/m should bring more money than a poorly stamped one.
Unless you can identify yours, I'd expect $10-15 at the very most, but one never knows...
Цитата: "Chech"According to Numista this year was not minted and it seems to have a counterstamp that is a "C" with a crown on it.
This is VERY unusual. I happen to know of a VERY VERY similar coin I have seen many times over the last few months in a junk bin. Seeing you're also in Canada, this wouldn't happen to come from the London Coin Center would it?
If not, I'll go get it tomorrow and post a picture of it to compare.
(I also happen to be listening to the Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy, so... Coincidences don't exist!)

I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!

Yes, I got it at the coin center.
It's a small world after all.

If it is Guadeloupe or some other Caribbean island, you may want to try Howland Wood's old but important article. There were many additions and corrections since then, but if you find something, you can work your way up to more recent publications.
