Hi !
I have a 'coin' (?) that looks a lot like this one, except it is silver (I think).
Weight 0.72grams, diameter 19mm

Year 1223, RY 28
Fake, copy, belly dancer coin...
Any idea is welcome !

Just found this token in Numista : https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces59212.html
Same series ?

That is almost as close to the page as medium.
Indeed token
The key here is the regnal year 78

I think it's 28 (٢٨) rather than 78 (٧٨), as the token in the catalogue has it. Mahmud II ruled for over 30 years.

Yes, it is probably the token, though it seems to me that brass and silver are different enough not to be confused.

Does anybody have more info about these tokens ? To me they look like too detailed to be just a fantasy coin...

Since it is a fantasy token, the arabic numbering is also fantasy.
The mint is Constantinopel (just above the date 1223)
Here is one of my tokens:

These tokens mimic one of these coins:

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces34208.html
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces29671.html
There you can find more info on the real coins.
They exist in silver and gold color, but the contain little of no valuable metals.
The details are indeed very good in most cases, but the are fantasy.
If you google 'belly danser' you can see how they are used

On this one, dear PetrusAscanus, I have to disagree. Your token was clearly engraved by someone who didn't know the Arabic script, yes. Still, he did a much better job than usual, though no-one educated in the Arabic script would have engraved the "fa" and "qaf" the way he did, nor the numeral "2". tony.c's token or coin, however, was competently engraved. The "fa" and "qaf", admittedly, are closed, but they are common in this way and within the norm for engraving on a small scale.

Ok, I will not argue with your explanation, because I can not read arabic. I just can compare the 'symbols' on arabic coins....:`
But still, I am convinced (feeling) it is some kind of replica
Thanks!

I was thinking we should make a list, with links, of the Islamic coins discussed in Numista in the past several years, especially that so many of the types are recurring through centuries.
