Hi everyone. I have coin from the German Federal Republik, its a 5 euro cent from the year 2004 with the letter J - Hamburg mint. So the globe on this coin has a huge smudge on it as if a tiny part of a nother coin melted on it. My question is, is this a mint error or something happend to it after.? I have attached photos.
I think the steel under the copper just rusted.
Hmm. Could be, but i thought too that it may have just inflated and it is just a bubble but i presst it really hard with a mettle object and it doesent collapse. Normally if it were from rust then it should bi somewhat hallow and would collapse inwards.

Ahoj
This is a reaction to the chemical environment when the chemical comes under the plating protective layer, almost all the coins that have the plating layer can fall - it is the metal reaction below the coating layer.
