Sorry you haven't had any other responses before now but I think Celtic coinage is a bit of a specialist field and certainly not one that I know well. We have a Celtic Britain section to the Numista catalogue but I don't think there are any Cunobelin silver units in there. You could try going to Classical Numismatic Group, Inc. and search their archives for Cunobelin to see if you can find a match. There is also a great site for British Celtic coinage at http://www.vanarsdellcelticcoinageofbritain.com which you might want to try. Hope this helps and if you do manage to identify the type, let's get it added to the catalogue :)

Radrick007,

Think its 2059 under Cunobeline on the Van Ardsell link.

Thanks for the help.

Will get weight, dimensions and alignment so it can be added to site

Thanks

Glad to help Gordon but don't worry about alignment too much since there probably would not have been any strict control on these early hammered pieces so alignment of any given coin would only be incidental.

Hi Gordon, thanks for your contribution, I have just published with some edits and a little extra information. That's a lovely piece and would have been struck near to where I live (although 2,000 years earlier!). I saw a similar one to yours but in slightly better grade sold on CNG for $375 in 2009. Just out of interest, how did you come by it and do you know where it was found?
