Цитата: "CassTaylor"Hello,
When asking for help with ID, ALWAYS INCLUDE: weight, diameter and metal! Not to mention good photos of both sides!
Dear CassTaylor,
Thank you for your advice. I usually DO include those details if I have them. Unfortunately, on this occasion, I do not have any of those. This is a coin I am interested in buying and all I have is this rather poor photograph. Apologies if this is not acceptable, I was just wondering if anyone perhaps could identify it.
Oh, I see. I just got a little bit pissed that so many people asking for ID help seem to not bother helping the people who do the IDs by giving information. But it is understandable in your circumstance.
Perhaps you can message the seller to ask for those informations?
Otherwise, I see the date 1564 around the letter "A" (possibly a mintmark), and legend beginning at 12 o'clock: "MA??*IACOS*???CHSEIL*N*P*". The CoA is a mystery to me, but if I had to bet it's probably one of those obscure HRE states.
Thanks a lot, I suspect it is indeed one of those principalities. I'll try to do more research on it before committing to purchasing it. I appreciate your help. :)
I've found out more about it. Apparently it has 23mm diameter. And here are photographs of both the obverse and the reverse. The seller says it's Moldavian, but I'm not sure.
What looks like a bull on the reverse and obverse CoA definitely seems to support "Moldavia", but the coat of arms doesn't match Moldavian coins of the era, and I see the word "VND" at 9 o'clock on the reverse (und), which makes me think German states.
wow, great job! Thank you so much. Since jetons are not really my thing I'm going to pass on this one. I also assume it doesn't have much value in this condition.
I was not sure, but I also had that thought.
Good find!
Yeah, after not finding any results with the key word "bull" I began to think it was a Nuremberg jeton as well. Never knew there were dated varieties, though!
