Unknown coin, heavy, thick, irregular, possibly Islamic?

After digging through hundreds of pictures of coins with no luck, I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what this is? The features look vaguely Islamic, but I've found nothing that matches. This is very much not a category I'm familiar with.

It's heavy for its size, approximately 20mm in diameter and 7mm thick, and non-magnetic.



I don't even remember where I got it, but it's been an off-and-on mystery for a while. Even if it's junk it'll be nice to know for sure. Thank you in advance for any help!

The general appearance, shape and size are similar to copper dams or double paisas from medieval India. Though I don't recognize the pattern, it might be worth looking in that direction.
