1/4 Zeri Mahbub - Selim III?

4 сообщений
Hello,
I believe this is a 1/4 Zeri Mahbub from the Ottoman Empire under Selim III’s reign but I’m not certain if that is correct (I can’t even read the letters). Can anyone confirm this? And does it seem genuine or could it be just a brass or gold-played imitation?

diameter: 10.5mm
thickness: 0.5mm
weight: 0.50g
metal: gold?

Hello,
I read "Duriba bi fi Islambul 1203" on the reverse side, so I agree about an ottoman coin minted under Selim III, regarding the weight and diameter I had said the denomination is a para.

Regnal year 12? Not sure about the last digit (it's a bit off).
It's a bit wierd that only the center appear on your coin, but not impossible : your coin is a really small for this type however it's probably thicker than the other ones.
It looks like it’s been clipped, which is an explanation on why the diameter and weight could be off.

I had a feeling it’s been clipped...it looks strange and I couldn’t find the exact same thing! Interesting though...
