British Model 1/16th Farthing

4 сообщений
I have seen several "Model" Victoria coins over the years, but I do not ever remember seeing one as small as the one I acquired on a buying trip last month.  It is only 6mm in diameter, and its denomination is 1/16 farthing!

Does anyone have any information or valuation data on this type, or a reference I can use to add it to the Numista catalog?

I found this in an old Krause Unusual World Coins (4th Ed 2005):

Joseph Moore
Struck by AIlen & Moore of Birmingham.
Brilliant uncirculated examples command a
premium of 50-60%

X#2 1/16 FARTHING
Copper Obv: Youthful portrait of Victoria
Date 1848
F 2.00
VF 4.00
XF 10.00
Unc 25.00

Just as a matter of interest, there is also listed a X#1 which is a 1/32 farthing.
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

Thank you for the quick response.

I knew that I had seen a list of some Model coins somewhere, but I had been looking in Coincrafts.

If the pricing of MA Shops is to be believed, the prices have increased significantly. A Model Mille by Moore (KM X6) is priced at $51 in VF+ (UWC 4th lists it at $10 in XF).

Like anything else, it is worth what someone will pay for it, regardless of what the catalog says.
