Former owner said he thought it was Salzburg, but no denomination or lettering to check or medieval book to look in. I can not do photos but drawing is very accurate, probably a bishop with crozier and cross or scepter, with 3 crosses on reverse. Could be protestant or Catholic. No scale so could be bilion, and is about the size of eastern European denar. It's likely a Bistum or bishopric issue rather than stadt.
to Cycnos,
I'm pretty sure that you are right. It is a Weissenburg coin. Having the Abby's name I found in Craig that they made denars in the 11th - 13th centuries, and my coin is about the right size. My reverse is of a castle with 2 towers. I missed that. But I am sure that there is a large cross in between. I also guessed wrong about the miter. It is a crown. Small differences on the obverse I just ascribe to varieties from different engravers and ages.
I can't believe how fast you ID'd my coin. No date, no lettering, an inaccurate picture, and you find a coin from an Abbey the size of a small shopping mall in a place I never heard of,that hasn't made that type of coin for 700 years. I am impressed.
Thank you very much.
