French Jeton?? [решено]

4 сообщений
The previous owner attributed this as "France Jeton Charles VII 1483-1498", but this looks more like a coin than a jeton. Can someone confirm or correct the attribution?

It appears to be silver; it is 23mm in diameter, and weighs about 1.5 grams.

I think this is the same thing (except for the countermark). I found it because of the legend CAMERACENSE.¹

They say "méreau" which would be a token ─ therefore a 6 deniers token. I'm sure someone would know on the French side.

_______
¹ I thought it should read "CAMBRACENSE", i.e. from Cambrai, but it actually reads as I said on both your and the metal detecting token.

Hello,
Camerinvs is right. Minted at Cambrai in 1548 with a value of 6 deniers.

Observe : "+ CAPITVULVM ·*· CAMERACENSE ·*. o : * :"
Reverse : "+ SALVE * REGINA * MISERICOR · 1 · 5 · 4 · 8 · [???]"

Reference : Boudeau# 2050
Thank you very much for your help.
