Hello again,
I’ve been trying to find info about my sultani (https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/4283961-002/Other/) but strangely the flower-like thing on the obverse can’t seem to be on any examples I find online (like http://coins.lakdiva.org/ottoman/1574_murad_iii_misr_au.html) and it doesn’t seem to be on Numista, either (there’s no Murad III-era sultani in the Turkey/Ottoman catalog as of yet). I can’t read it nor tell how it’s oriented. NGC’s identification is correct, at any rate, right?
I’m considering opening the slab later, when I figure out how...
such " flowers" used to be a facsimile of engravers, at least on earlier hammered islamic coins such ornaments are not a stoong design of the coin, - they are identified as engravers secret code.
