My first Ancient Coin

3 сообщений
Hello all,

On my UK trip last year while in London, I bought my first Ancient coin from a trusted dealer and auctioneer. All he was doing was selling it though and there wasn't any ID or information about it.

Its weight is an 2.2 grams and diameter is 16 mm

Cheers,
William
Hello,
Not bad for a first one, it's not the easiest emperor to get :`

Your coin is a half follis of the emperor Maxentius ("MAXENTI-VS P F AVG") with a votive reverse type "VOT / QQ / MVL / X" (Votis quinquennialis multis decennalis).

The mintmark doesn't appear on your coin but they seem to have been minted in 310 and at Roma only.

Reference : RIC VI #237 (Rome)
Not on Numista yet, feel free to add it.
Wow okay, thank you Cycnos,

I would love to add it but frankly I would be out beyond my comfort zone so would it be possible for you to add it and I can try to take better pictures?

Cheers,
William
