1890 ¼ Anna - Victoria / Grade Please

4 сообщений
Hi All,
I'm not sure what grade to give this coin....

Anyone care to grade?

My lighting today is terrible so colors are a bit off and the flash caused some bright spots. But I am asking based off of details as opposed to color/lighting.

Also, curious about the extra metal (looks like a strip of metal) at the tip of crown on right side (see image below) is that from the die?

Thanks All,
Aaron

It looks to be Very Fine, although the lightning issues you mention make it a little difficult to be sure. Your second question answer is known as a die crack. Here is a link to an article that explains die cracks and die breaks ~ https://www.coinworld.com/numismatic/collector-basics/die-break-coin-world-numismatics-collecting-basics-7294823.all.html
I agree with Napoleon1, the reverse is a solid VF at least but I'm not so sure about the obverse... I think I heard from somewhere that British India coins of Victoria can be judged by how much of the design on her dress is still visible (a little hard to tell from the photos).
Thanks both.
I'll get some better shots later today and post.
