Coin of possible Chinese origin-help identify please

This coin was found in old bag with old Irish and English coins average 100 years old.It may be Chinese ? It is brass I believe. There are what look like flags one striped the other a star. Tge other side has a cross and what looks to a westerner like Chinese writing. Any information on possible origin greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much! It is very shiny so I think it's copper. The other coins are roughly around 1920 also so it makes sense.
