Hi there. Now it is my turn to give you a coin. This coin is China Empire coin, Li Zong 2 cash, Hartill# 17.716, FD# 1479. Weight 4.7 g, diameter 27.9 mm, thickness 1.4 mm. What do you think, fake or not?

looks like a badly cast replica coin.

Thanks. I thought so too. The surface of the coin is "too good" to be that old coin and there is some kind of black oil or something which too easily can be removed. Also the coin is too light, I have few other coins of that type and all those are more heavier and somehow different. That specific year is also the most expensive of that type. So this more or less confirms my suspicion.

Since these coins were cast, not struck, the off-center designs are very suspect.
