1958 UK Half Penny Variety Identification Question

3 сообщений
Hi everyone,

Does anyone know what the best way to tell apart reverses E and F of the 1958 UK half penny is? The numista entry for this coin is here: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces5824.html. The other year varieties all come with pictures, but 1958 does not, so I am having some trouble with it. Side by side pictures of each variety would be very helpful.

Thank you in advance!
You could try viewing the Numista page, which gives the details, click the link on the page which also gives details or you could go to Declan Magee Coins website which will probably show something similar.

Thanks for the suggestion! I looked closely at both pages and their attached pictures, and I just do not see a difference between these two varieties. I am just wondering if there is a specific point you can look at on the coin to tell these varieties apart without having to get an exact measurement. For example, on other coins, you can tell varieties apart based on whether certain letters point to or between edge teeth, or whether certain features are close or far apart. I am hoping there is something like this for these two varieties, otherwise I do not have a ruler or measurement tool that can get down to 1/4 mm to measure exactly.
