Alawi sharifs dirhams

4 сообщений
Here are two dirhams (or silver muzuna) in bad condition and not easy for me to identify.

N1# is 22-24 mm and still with its clip.
We see the number 8, so I think at Muhammed III, but up to now, I did'nt find some coins similar to this one...

N2# is 19-22 mm
What is strange for me is the sort of "triangle" above the square, and both are inside the circle.
And this triangle seems not to be the seal of Salomon...

Any idea?
#2 seems to be double struck / overstruck. Note the double square on the bottom and right side suddenly becomes a circle of triangular denticles at the top. The use of a double square around the legend occurs around 1200 H. This is also a period of pretenders to the throne who struck coins.
Yes numisquare, I agree with you with the double struck.
The double square is also not so current, I found some coins with it in Essaoouira around 1180, but the "qirat" in 3 lines of the face is older according to me.
We can find this with Ismail, and Eustache mention we can have some coins with double quare (rare), but the words of the "qirat" are not the same at the second and third line...
In addition the obverse is not easy to read...
So, not yet solved...
I tried looking for something to match the 1st coin, but with lack of images on both KM and Numista, and the barely visible details on coin, it was hard to do so
