Anyone have any info on this token?

Hi,

I'd like to ask if anyone can find any information on this token? I entered it into the catalogue as a 1/2 Sovereign token from Australia, and I believe it dates from around the turn of the 20th century (possibly a couple of decades before or after).

I believe Stockton to refer to this municipality in NSW Australia, but I could be wrong and it could be a place in the UK or elsewhere in the British Empire.

Any info at all on provenance, value, etc .is welcome!

I did consider that it might not be, but I went with Stockton because that was the only municipality with a "Co-operative society" that I could find. Should I move it to Tokens - United Kingdom ?

According to this search on tokencatalog.com, it's Stockton-on-Tees, Durham, England.
