i recently obtained this coin out of curiosity but am unable to identify the coin. Though thinking it was ancient arabic but am unable to find anything. I start to have my doubts about it being arabic because the writing is slightly of. I have heard it might be ancient bactrian but also heard that it is not older than the 16th century. The text on the coin is turned 90° when it is turned to the backside it is made out of 1 solid piece probably of broze or maby copper. If anyone could help i whould be grateful.
Maldives 2 lari, Muhammad Imad al-Din IV, AH 1294 (AD 1827), KM 36.1.
Photo in Krause World Coins 19th Century. Numista doesn't have this exact coin.
First photo should be rotated 180 degrees, second photo should be rotated 90 degrees clockwise.
In future it will make for faster identification to have cropped photos.
