Still looking for info on Silberman & Lippman and I don't think I've ever seen so little (read: nothing) on a business or firm anywhere on the web.
All I've got so far is that 233 River St. in Paterson NJ was the site of
a wine and liquor dealer, Max Keil, between 1902─1904. He moved out because the Passaic River overflowed every spring and his store was flooded. I'm not sure whether S&L were there before or after Keil. The only connection between them so far as I can tell is that they were all Jewish.
A
fire was reported on July 7, 2003, but that's not going to be useful...
From Google Earth → Street View I see there is a 237 and (according to Street View) 223 Water Street, but no 233 in between. The 237 is the taller structure on the right (white roof in the aerial view) and must be at least 100 years old. The river is just behind. The whole area looks pretty bleak, with many buildings abandoned or barely maintained.
