1789 France Louis XVI questions

5 сообщений • просмотрено 124 раз
I have had this coin since the early 1970's and have no clue about it. I have found some on the internet but no information.
1. This one has the letter H on reverse, what does letter mean?
2. Obverse has an anchor below Louis, seen multiple emblems, do they mean anything?
Any other information is greatly appreciated.
Welcome to Numista. Weight, metal content, and diameter would be helpful to better determine the exact coin you have. I am not an expert on French coins but I believe it is this one. The H would be the mint mark, in this case La Rochell. If it is genuine or not, I cant say. Good luck.

The anchor is the mark of the mint director of "La Rochelle" from 1785 to year XII (1803/1804)
Referee of south atlantic islands
Coin weighs 29 grams. If I read right there were 15 mints for this coin. Thanks for the info.
