Hello,

I would like to ask for help with valuation regarding this coin
Please consider the condition (as roughly seen on the pictures)

Here's the NGC listing for this coin.

Keep in mind that these are "book" prices and actual sales are generally at lower prices. The best way to find a more realistic current price would be to find a recent sale on an auction site such as EBay etc. Personally I would grade your coin about MS60, but this could vary by evaluator and it's not easy to do from photos.

Thanks alot. So according to your approx. valuation, the list says: 1700.00?
How can I distinguish this 1866 coin from the less valuable 1866 coin as listed above that one?

Edit: I presume that it takes time and effort to learn to grade coins, but I would like to learn a bit more about it. Any reading recommendations?

Best regards
C
Sorry, I don't know how to distinguish the varieties. Actually as a first assumption I would assume it's the more common one. You'll have to check into this issue for this coin.

There are many sources for coin grading standards; here is one

If you do a google search you'll find others.
