I have been attempting to nail down exactly what this is. The date is partial in that only the last 4 is visible and I have been trying to extrapolate to no avail. Do I have a 1884 or 1894? 21 or 22 leaves? Obverse #4, #5,#6, or #6-4/4? Thank you in advance.

Always fun to do this kind of detective work.

First, you have the 22 leaves reverse. The extra leaf is the small one at about 4 o'clock. Both the 1884 and 1894 use that reverse, so it's not helpful.

The obverse, however, is slightly different for each. In Charlton, the 1884 has obv. #4, and the 1994 has either #5 or #6. The problem is that your coins is too worns, so only the shape of the forehead seems to be helpful, because on obv. #4 it is less pronounced than on #5 and #6, and it looks to me like you have one of those two, so an 1894.

This is not surprising given that the 1884 dime is quite rare. It is listed at $200 in G grade. The 1894 is listed at $30 in G grade.

Thank you for that clarification. The obverse was not clear to me as I tried to scrutinize the differences on the obverse types and the only difference I could detect was the slant of the eye.
