German crisis coins + catalogs for it

2 сообщений • просмотрено 185 раз
Good morning all,

i have several hundred german crisis coins from the period 1917 to 1924, most of them i can find in the Walter Funck catalog (band 1), so checking those is not so hard.

But i also have several dozen of coins (or tokens) from that timestamp, that i can't find information or catalogs for, for example Leipzig, 20 (pfennig?) Strassenbahn, pressed cardboard, nothing to find for it.

German porcelan; Freiberger Munze, 1 mark 1921, there are pictures from it on the net, but is there a specific catalog for it?

Eisen und Stahlwerke Hoesch, 10 (pfennig?) zink, no date of isseu.

And dozens of more like those, are there any known catalogs for this type of coins/tokens even made?

Kind regards, Carl/Horde

Hi Carl,

to identify a coins it's always easier to have a picture. ;-)

Some coins you mentioned:

Hoesch : I need a picture to identify it. You can creat a new sheet for this coin.

You will find most of these coins in "PETER MENZEL: Deutschsprachige Notmünzen und Geldersatzmarken 1840 - 2002"
The last edition of this catalogue is from 2018 and exist as PDF.

On Numista, you will find the coins and token with ref's like MEN05# or MEN18#. That's because in every edition the n° of a coin/token change (more about this here: https://fr.numista.com/forum/topic87848.html).

Some porcelain 'looks like Notgeld' are not in the MENZEL because they are medals or donation-token.

If you are not sure about a german Notgeld/token send me a picture or open a post with picture and I am sure it will be identified :wiz:
