Italy Strange 1866 'Coin'

I recently found this in a lot I purchased. It has a diameter of 15mm and weighs 1.0 gram.

It is dated 1866 and has the N mintmark (difficult to make out, but I think it is this), indicating it was struck in Naples. According to Krause no 1866 1 centesimo exists of any of the Italian mints. The numista catalogue page: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces2275.html states that this date and mint is unconfirmed. The details are also incredibly crude, as is especially apparent on the reverse. Perhaps this is just a result of a double strike on the reverse. You can make out the ghostly impression of a '1' to the right of the more visible mangled '1'.

Could this be a contemporary counterfeit with a made-up date?
I'm in the contemporary counterfeit boat
i agree also, it looks authentically old, as well as being an impressive, hand made imitation.
not a coin, but a cool bit of historical ephemera.

It's certainly an interesting piece. It's crude, but I can imagine that its wouldn't have been given much scrutiny due to its low face value. Much like how most of the £1 coin fakes passed in circulation despite being obvious forgeries.

Thank you both for your opinions.
