​Good morning, Aidan_Holloway. I think your instinct is right. It certainly looks Indian, and the inscription Sanskrit or Arabic. Possibly the Sind or Junjab. The coins I am looking at online, suggested as being these from these areas, have dots which have been called 'punch marks'. The Arabs conquered the Sind in 711-12. But failed to take the Punjab. The design looks too regular for Ceylon.
